Information Retrieval in Biomedicine - The TREC Genomics Track
William Hersh and Ellen
Voorhees, Co-Editors
Submission
deadline extended by a week to April 7, 2008!
We are seeking papers for a special issue of the journal Information
Retrieval devoted to work performed with the test collections of
the TREC Genomics Track.
The track ran from 2003-2007 and its test collections feature a variety
of tasks, including ad hoc information retrieval, text categorization,
and entity-based question-answering. Papers can address other tasks,
such as information summarization, text mining, or information
extraction, but should have some connection to the Genomics Track or
its data.
Papers must be full-length and provide detailed descriptions of methods
and results, along with analysis. We strongly discourage
re-submission of TREC proceedings
papers. "Good" results are less important than well-motivated and
well-described experiments. As such, papers should have, and peer
reviewers will be asked to look for, the following characteristics:
- Well-motivated approaches to real user information problems in
the genomics domain
- Well-described baseline experiments with incremental analysis of
algorithms and other system features
- Appropriate statistical analysis
- Detailed analysis of results, including failure and success
Here is the timeline for the special issue:
- March 31, 2008 - papers due
- June 1, 2008 - results from peer review return to authors
- July 1, 2008 - revised papers due
- August 1, 2008 - final decisions for publications returned to
authors
- Late 2008 - publication of special issue
If you are able to contribute, please send your paper to the Editorial Manager Site
for the journal. Instructions
for authors can be found at the journal's
Web site.
If you have questions regarding the system, contact Ms. Jacqueline Lalic.
